VOLUNTARY RECALL OF PROHEART 6
On September 3, 2004, Fort Dodge has announced a voluntary recall of their product ProHeart 6. Due to this recall, Med-A-Pet has suspended use of this product pending further direction from the FDA and Fort Dodge.
There is a question as to the research that was done to establish the products safety in dogs receiving the medication.
Med-A-Pet’s primary concern is the safety and well being of its patients. Since October 2001, when we first started using ProHeart 6, we have not had any reports of side effects except once a dog owner reported vomiting after retuning home.
It is important to use an alternative product to protect your dog from heartworm disease. We have two products that have proven just as effective as the ProHeart 6. These products are called “Heartgard” and “Interceptor”.
